FAQs
Can I attend a support group if my person hasn't died yet?
Absolutely! Our support groups welcome individuals who are anticipating the loss of a loved one. These groups can provide a safe space to share experiences, fears, and emotions with others who understand what you're going through. By attending a support group before the loss occurs, you can gain valuable insights, coping strategies, and a sense of community that can help you navigate the difficult journey ahead.
My person did not die recently, can I still attend a support group or workshop?
Of course! Support groups and workshops often welcome individuals who have experienced loss, regardless of when it occurred. Many people find that even if time has passed since their loved one's death, they continue to grapple with grief and its various complexities. Attending a support group or workshop can offer valuable support, understanding, and coping mechanisms to help navigate the ongoing journey of grief.
Can I attend more than one support group?
You can! Attending more than one support group is perfectly okay and can even be beneficial. New members are typically prioritized, but if space allows, you may join multiple groups. Each support group may offer a different focus, atmosphere, or set of resources, allowing you to explore various perspectives and approaches to coping with your challenges. It's about finding the support that suits you best.
Can my child(ren) attend more than one workshop?
Certainly! Your child(ren) can attend more than one workshop. Good Grief Central prides itself in considering the ages of the attendees and create age-specific content. Ultimately, the goal is to provide your child(ren) with opportunities for growth and learning in a supportive environment. Creating tailored topics and activities helps ensure that your child(ren) can return year after year.
How much does a support group cost?
Support groups and workshops are offered free of charge and operate on a donation basis. Good Grief Central relies on donations to cover expenses such as venue rental, materials, and facilitator fees.
What if I know someone in my support group?
The group facilitator always emphasizes the importance of privacy and encourages all members to uphold this principle. However, if you find it uncomfortable to share in the presence of someone you know, you can discreetly request to be placed on a waitlist for the next support group session. Our mission is to ensure that you can find a group where you feel more at ease expressing yourself.
